Water Unite: naming and designing a new campaigning brand
Water Unite is tackling water poverty and plastic waste by raising money from a 1c levy on bottled water sales.
We helped craft the Purpose, led the naming process and designed the identity of this energetic non-profit.
The link between this unity and the provision of large scale water infrastructure is expressed by linking the T and I together in both words of the name to represent water pipes. The directness of the symbol echoes the directness of the funding for projects: from source to pipes all around the world.
The identity centres around a logo designed to tell the story of a united consortium of water industry and NGO’s working together to end water poverty and tackle plastic pollution.
The identity has been designed to be simple to apply and adapt by teams within partner organisations, and to share with community groups. The link in the logoype can be extended in a playful way in communications.
Photography is given a consistent look by treating with brand colours and a vertical screen effect inspired by the linking pipe in the logo.
The simplicity of the robust logo and striking colour and graphics allow the brand to stand out and help convey its ‘fighting brand’ attitude.
“The work Nick Clark and his team did with regard to developing a new, global brand identity, helped us make a real impact in our sector. The identity continues to work hard for us as we tackle one of the world’s biggest and most intractable problems.”
